FOCUS Movie Night
www.phxarts.org/focus

Join us this Saturday, June 14th at 7pm, for the screening of Praha 2000: World Bank and IMF Under Seige. This video covers the protests against annual meeting of the IMF/WB on September 26th, 2000 in Prague, Czech Republic. These protests mark the first time that protestors of all sorts united under the banner of anti-globalization and anti-capitalism. Compiled from footage from hundreds of videographers, editors and media activists around the world, this video covers up-close footage of the Blue, Yellow and Pink Marches, illustrating three very unique protest tactics. This movie contains interviews with organizers, demonstrators, bystanders and theorists, explaining why the IMF/WB are "under seige" and why people are taking it to the streets to stand in opposition to this type of globalization.

***Discussion about the Cancun WTO and Florida FTAA protests to follow the video screening.***

Mr. Don Fotheringham of the national council of The John Birch Society will speak at the tenth annual state convention of the Arizona Republican Assembly, Sat. June 14, ’03, at 6:30 p.m.  Mr. Fotheringham is considered one of the foremost experts in the Nation on the U.S. Constitution.

Sheraton Four Points
10220 N. Metro Parkway East, Phoenix, Az.

(602) 997 –5900 or (800) 325 –3535.
(NE corner of Metrocenter, just west of Black Canyon Freeway and south of Peoria Av. In northwest Phoenix)

His topics will be:
- The late Iraqi war:  “We should steer clear of foreign animosities.” (George Washington)
- We shouldn’t be going to war based on resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, but only after deliberation and a declaration of war by Congress, as our Constitution says.
- The United States should set its own destiny, and not let the U. N. Security Council decide.
- Through the U. N. we have, in the 90s, been embroiled in wars in Bosnia,   Kosovo, Haiti, Iraq and Iran.

Mr. Fotheringham, a veteran national speaker, will be a highly controversial and well-informed interview for whichever talk show hosts desire to schedule him (John Birch Society representatives are always interesting)!  Call Jim Pinkerman (480)833-2920.  Below, find a news article on Don, as well as a bio, faxed with this notice.

FREEDOM SUMMIT 2003, October 18 & 19, 2003; Best Western Grace Inn at Ahwatukee, Arizona
The Freedom Summit is an annual seminar dedicated to promoting and advancing human freedom. To that end, the Freedom Summit offers speakers who have demonstrated their effectiveness in presenting the intellectual case for freedom.

The Freedom Summit offers a highly distinguished assortment of the best, brightest and most entertaining people in the freedom movement today!

The Freedom Summit is an annual update on the current status of freedom in our world from several varied perspectives. Rather than seek to present either an optimistic or pessimistic outlook, the Freedom Summit strives to present an honest and straightforward assessment of the current status of our freedom.

Socialism and other coercive centralized planning schemes have failed to improve, and indeed worsened, the human condition. As such, the Freedom Summit does not encourage or promote any particular centralized plan to achieve freedom. Rather, the Freedom Summit encourages individuals to promote freedom in non-coercive ways which are best suited to their individual talents.

The Freedom Summit is a forum for the vigorous and peaceful exchange of ideas about how humans ought to interact with each other. People recently introduced to the concepts of freedom as well as lifelong supporters of freedom are encouraged to attend. Additionally, those who support a coercive government are also welcome to attend and examine their views in light of the ideas and arguments presented.
